Somnia Podcast 003: Songs For The Departed

This is my first show of 2008, and starts on a somber note. I've lost someone very close to me, so my song choices are a bit more in the melancholic spheres. Sorrow, joy, memory, presence, emotion... it's all part of our beautiful experience.

Evan,

Thank you for the beauty and wonder that you bring into this world. You create emotive landscapes like noone i've ever met.

This isn't the first time the muse has come from a place of pain and sorrow for you, and while i cherish the results, i also know how much it hurts to go there. your journey creates a true treasure out of tragedy, like planting a seed to grow out of the departed. I can't think of a greater way to honour someone's passing than to invoke them as your muse.

you truly are an amazing and inspiring being, and i'm honoured to be your friend.

Hi there,

Just found your blog through a link on the http://lowlightmixes.blogspot.com/ who had mentioned you. I'm listning right now and it's beautiful.

You are asking for suggestions, i think the music from Max Richter would fit perfect. Other names i can come up right now are Muhr, Nest, Helios

Well thanks for those mixes and i will be checking your blog on a regular basis.
